About Dorothy Hayden, LCSW
Dorothy Hayden, LCSW, began her clinical career in the chemical dependency field. For 10 years, she worked with alcohol and drug addicts in various detoxes, outpatient clinics and day-treatment programs. She taught in the Alcoholism Program at Marymount Manhattan College. Ms. Hayden is a certified Alcoholism Counselor.
Twenty years ago, she received training in Sex Addiction Therapy with Patrick Carnes. PhD and has been working with Sex/Porn addiction and sexual “deviance” ever since. She has written 40 articles for www.sextreatment.com and wrote for a blog, www.porn-no-more.com about pornography addiction. She is a regular contributing author for blogs such as www.compulsivesolutions.com, www.elementsofbehavioralhealth.com, www.thefix.com, www.addictionblog.org, www.smartrecovery.com, and www.psychcentral.com.
Dorothy is also trained in hypnosis, is a certified Neuro-Linguistics Practitioner (NLP), trained in Cognitive-behavioral therapy with Albert Ellis, mindfulness-based therapy and Acceptance/Commitment Therapy.
Ms. Hayden has authored an ebook entitled “Total Sexual Recovery – A Guide to Therapy.” She has been interviewed by HBO, “20/20” and CNN about the pernicious effects of cybersex on the individual, the family and on society.
A graduate of New York University in Clinical Social Work, she attended three post-graduate trainings in psychoanalysis, one specializing in couples counseling.
