Then, when there’s some sort of deceived “deviance” or overindulgence, the shame all the more.

But you know, just because it’s a taboo subject doesn’t mean you have to hide it from EVERYBODY. As your judgment gets better, you’ll find those who don’t act in shaming ways and that will be an aid to you in seeking redemption from your own shame.
